This 2-hr workshop is for singers who are interested in solo work.

No experience necessary.

In this workshop, you will bring a prepared solo piece of any style to perform for the class. You will receive on-the-spot feedback and an opportunity to perform your piece again, applying what you have learned.

This workshop helps build confidence in an encouraging space and is a great way for soloists (and aspiring soloists) to practice performing for a small audience and to recieve a professional coaching.

What you'll need:

-Bottle of water.

-Solo piece. You'll be asked to send a youtube link or file of the karaoke/backing/instrumental track to the song you will be singing. Song must be under 4 minutes long and must be performed to a track with no lead vocals.

-Printed song lyrics, for notes and coaching.

$25 per singer (no additional registration fee required)

2-hour workshop

*minimum enrollment of 4 singers

FAQ:

Q: Do I need to have my song memorized?

A: It is encouraged that you memorize your song so that you can focus on performance and technique, but it is not required.

Q: I have my song memorized, do I still need to bring printed lyrics?

A: Yes, it is encouraged that you bring your printed lyrics so that you can take notes or the coach can make notes for you to work on.

Q: Can my family come watch?

A: Space is very limited, so we ask that only one parent come to observe.

Q: Do you prefer parents to stay and observe or to drop off?

A: In our experience, students tend to feel more confident and focused when they have the space to work independently. This helps them get the most out of each session and encourages their growth as performers. Therefore, we encourage drop-off. However, if you feel more comfortable staying and observing, we ask only one parent stay due to space limitations.

Q: My song is longer than 4 minutes. Can I just do a part of it?

A: Certainly! You can choose to stop the song at any moment. Often times, you can find short versions of popular songs online as well.

Q: What kind of song should I sing?

A: As long it is family friendly (no profanity, no overtly adult subjects) you can sing any style you choose. Pop, rock, r&b, musical theater, country, Christian, you name it. Uptempo, ballad, whatever your heart desires.

Q: I can't find a track, can I sing with the original or sing acapella (with no music)?

A: Nearly every popular song has a karaoke track available on youtube. (Search the song title + karaoke). If it isn't available, it is preferred you select a different piece for this workshop.
